Google’s 45 Twitter Accounts

45 accounts is a lot, but Google has a lot of different applications and services so maybe that’s the way to go. You can find them here. It’ll be interesting to see which brands employ that strategy and which stick to just 1 or 2 accounts for their entire official twitter presence.

Google’s list is here and I originally found it here at TechCrunch.

WNBA is beating the NBA (and MLS and NHL)

We added a whole lot of Verified Pages from the NBA, WNBA, NHL, and MLS today and I noticed at least one area where WNBA teams are doing better than NBA teams – Facebook vanity URLs.

Some NBA teams have nice URLs, like:

www.facebook.com/NYKnicks

But others have old ugly ones like:

www.facebook.com/pages/Sacramento-CA/Sacramento-Kings/96222644025

And some others have group pages instead of the newer fan pages on Facebook.

Going through the MLS and NHL I found that some teams link to personal profiles on Facebook instead of Facebook fan pages for teams. That just doesn’t seem right either.

WNBA teams, on the other hand, seem to have their Facebook strategy all set. 10 out of 12 teams have Facebook pages, and every one has nice URL like:

www.facebook.com/WashingtonMystics

I wonder if the WNBA handles these things on a league level, while the NBA leaves it to each individual team, or if WNBA teams are just more on top of their social networking…
